The veterinarian scanned the mare and found that she was pregnant. We were in a dilemma because we needed to amputate her legs but sedatives used in surgery would affect the fetus.

Our doctors took the risk and successfully amputated the leg. Our shelter staff didn't want to give up on her, so they lifted her up with a crane. Now you can see her eating some green fodder.
